I'm sure many of you know this by now but for those who don't, the Red Savina habanero was knocked off the list as the world hottest pepper by the bhut jolokia...and now there's a new leader of the pack! The worlds hottest pepper is now theTrinidad Moruga Scorpion Pepper. It's so hot that when being harvested at the New Mexico State University's Chile Pepper Institute in they had to use multiple gloves because the its capsaicin "kept penetrating the latex and soaking into the skin on our hands. That has never happened to me before," said senior research specialist Danise Coon.
Since the official SKU rating for the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Pepper was done by New Mexico State University's Chile Pepper Institute, I shouldn't have a problem with purchasing some seeds for this coming season since this is where I got my bhut jolokia seeds from when it was first discovered. After i get a hold of some trinidad moruga scorpion peppers I will be experimenting with it and try to get a good hot sauce recipe posted asap.
Another great thing I've found in researching this pepper is "The beauty of the peppers is they're not only the hottest in the world, but they're also some of the most flavorful peppers" -- Jim Duffy, New Mexico State University (AP).
I have grown Bhut Jolokia.(over 1m scovilles per pepper!) and the hot sauce recipe for it should work perfectly fine with the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Pepper.
